What this site counts
To learn which songs people enjoy, samllanes.com keeps its own count of visits: which pages were opened, when a play button was pressed, when a song started playing in the site’s player (including the next song starting by itself), and when a link to Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook or another site was clicked. It also counts when the message form is sent (never what it says), taps on Share and “Add to your phone”, your answer to the privacy question, and whether a visit lasted at least 10 seconds. It also notes the kind of device (phone, tablet or computer), the browser and operating system, the browser’s language, the website or campaign link that brought you here, and a rough location (country, and the U.S. state when allowed).
What is never collected
No names, email addresses or phone numbers are collected for these counts. The site’s own records never contain your full internet address: it is used once to look up a rough location and is then reduced to a scrambled code that changes every day and is deleted after 30 days. The services that run the site keep their own standard technical logs, which do include internet addresses: Lovable (website hosting) and Supabase (the visit counter, which deletes its logs after about 7 days). Nothing is sold, and nothing is used for advertising.
What is saved on your device
The site saves a random visit code and a random device code in your browser’s storage, so a return visit can be told apart from a new one, plus the link that first brought you here and the one that brought you this time. If you answer the privacy question, your answer is saved too, so it is not asked again. These codes are not tied to your name. You can clear them at any time by clearing this site’s data in your browser.
Visitors in Europe
If your device is set to a European time zone, the site’s own counting asks before saving anything on your device. Until you say yes, visits are still counted, but without a device code: this counting saves nothing on your device, and location is kept at country level only. The host’s own visit counter, described below, works separately.
Music players and outside links
The YouTube player’s code may start loading when you point at a play button, so the music starts faster. The players themselves, YouTube’s and Spotify’s, load when you press play. Once loaded, they follow Spotify’s and YouTube’s own privacy policies. Links to other sites take you to pages with their own policies.
Messages you send
The Send me a message form passes your name, phone, email and message to the email delivery service named on the form, so Sam’s team can reply. It is not used for anything else.
The host
The company that hosts this website, Lovable, runs its own visit counter on every page. It saves a short session code in your browser for about 30 minutes and records the page address, the browser and the website you came from. It is separate from the site’s own counting and does not wait for the privacy choice above.
